"A committee was formed by the Council of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (CHRIE) to examine the viability of accrediting hospitality programmes. A study on the advantages of accreditation for hospitality and tourism programmes was carried out with support from a grant from the National Restaurant Association and financing from the Darden Group.
The International CHRIE then suggested that two accrediting bodies be established to recognise and accredit baccalaureate-level (ITC) and associate's degree (CAHM) programmes."
A programmatic self-study, an appraisal by professional peers, and a review and judgment by the Accreditation Commission are the three main steps in the accreditation process. The Programme mobilizes its various components to reflect on the goals and efficacy of the Programme, assess its positive and negative aspects, and, when issues or chances are found, start working towards their resolution or fulfillment. A team put together by the Executive Director visits the programme when the Self-Study Report is finished and submitted.
ITC will be officially recognised as an accreditor of hospitality administration/management programmes in higher education on a national and international level by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) Board of Directors in 2022 after reviewing the committee's recommendation. This scholarship is valid for associate's and bachelor's degree programmes both domestically and abroad.
